Banana Shakes are a staple dessert at our house! They are creamy, healthy and, debatably, more delicious than ice cream. Bananas are packed full of potassium which is great for circulation and delivering oxygen to the brain, they are rich in iron which is vital for our blood and bananas can also lift your spirits and make you feel more calm and relaxed. That is because they contain tryptophan. Another reason I serve Banana Shakes an hour or so before Simon’s bed time. Tryptophan = sleeeeepy.
Here is a recipe for our Banana Shake:
2 ripe frozen bananas
2 cups almond milk (you can also use coconut milk for a tropical twist, or rice milk for a lighter consistency)
a splash of vanilla extract
a dash of nutmeg
Place all ingredients in a blender (we use a Vitamix) and blend together until smooth. Pour and enjoy!
This serves 2 adults and 1 toddler. Ha!
Feel free to change it up, add your own ingredients and experiment! You could try a tablespoon or 2 of peanut butter… maybe some cocoa powder… an orange… Get creative! Let me know how you like it! OMG OBSESSED!!!
