The other night, after Simon went to bed and before Chris got home from work, I was lurking around Twitter and came across a tweet from fellow blogger and super slim down success story Perez Hilton. Hilton tweeted: ”I have become obsessed with #muesli lately. So yum!!” I had never heard of muesli before so I looked it up and decided I had to try it immediately. The next day Simon and I headed to the grocery store in search of ingredients. Before I could begin to gather my fixins’ I came across a package of Bob’s Red Mill Muesil.
We figured we would try that before going to the trouble of making our own. Perez was right! SO YUM! I made it cold with almond milk but you can mix it with juice or yogurt or prepare it hot as well. It tastes great in baked goods and can be enjoyed dry as a snack. Muesli is a blend of rolled oats, wheat, rye, barley, almonds, date crumbles, raisins, sunflower seeds and walnuts. Very delicious and super good for you.
I’m sure I’ll eventually try making my own. I also thought homemade muesli would make a really cute gift if packaged nicely. Maybe for Christmas presents or a hostess gift or in a sweet, little gift basket after someone has had a baby. So many possibilities for such a simple Swiss cereal.
OMG OBSESSED!
