I saw Match Point for the first time probably about 6 or 7 years ago. I remember watching it with my husband (then boyfriend?) in the living room of our old apartment nestled deep in the San Fernando Valley. I also remember how much we didn’t like the film. For days later we talked about it. Getting ready for work in the morning we’d talk about it, it would come up during dinner conversation, one of us would mention it the next day over coffee… Then we finally realized: we must have really liked this absolutely unforgettable movie! We were referring to it so often that we decided to watch it again. To this day (obviously, since I’m writing about it) I find myself thinking about quite a bit.

Match Point is beautiful to watch. The characters are flawlessly gorgeous. Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Emily Mortimer… And Woody Allen is a genius. Match Point is not the only of his films that I am obsessed with. He is a true master at his craft.

Match Point is dark. A little shocking. A little wrong. One of those films that you can watch over and over… and over again.
