Am I the last person in the world to be OBSESSED with the musical styling of the fabulous indie band Vampire Weekend?!?!?!! Apparently so! Holy cool late 90′s college music! (That’s a compliment.) How I adore the upbeat, happy rhythms and the casual, laid back vocals so fluidly sung by lead singer Ezra Koenig. These tunes remind me of back in the day, springtime in Buffalo, when the weather just starts to get nice and makes you not want to go to class anymore. Sitting outside, enjoying a warm breeze while the sun is making it’s first appearance in what seems like FOREVER, and maybe a car drives by with it’s windows down playing your favorite song… which happens to be, at the moment, Vampire Weekends “Oxford Comma”. (I do realize that they have a new album out, but this is the one that I have recently discovered, so this is the one that I chose to talk about… It’s my blog, SO THERE!)
Anyway, the entire album is superior. I find myself humming to the tune of “Boston” quite frequently and waking up with the song “Campus” swimming through my brain. And “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” is definitely a play it again song on my i pod.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the boys that make up Vampire Weekend: Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, Christopher Tomson and Chris Baio, for making my ears happy, my head bob and my feet dance! I’m OBSESSED!
