I am OBSESSED with P90XTony Horton, the founder and leader of P90X makes it SO MUCH FUN! He takes you through a variety of workout DVD’s, motivating you, encouraging you and pushing you to your limits. He does all of that while still advising you to go easy on yourself and take breaks if you need them. He tells you not to “be a hero” and “don’t let your ego get in the way of your workout.” GREAT advice for P90X users, unless you WANT to be unable to walk for a week and a half after doing a workout. They are INTENSE! But good intense. Result producing intense! There is a total of 12 body sculpting videos that Tony will lead you through, along with a variety of P90X graduates to help keep it interesting and to show you modifications for each exercise. These DVD’s include: Ab Ripper X, Core Synergistics, Cardio X, Shoulders and Arms, Yoga X, Legs and Back, Kenpo X (karate moves/kicks and punches), X Stretch, Chest Shoulders and Triceps, Back and Biceps, Chest and back, and Plyometrics. Muscle Confusion is the premise of P90X and it is what you want to do when you are looking to see results.
There are two different versions of P90X. P90X Classic and P90X Lean. I do the P90X Lean because I am a girl and I would prefer my body to look long and lean, like a dancer, as apposed to bulky and muscular. I was a gymnast for 10 years when I was younger, so I have a tenancy to get bulky when I work out, but not with P90X! It slims me down without adding big, manly muscles. But if a ripped, Herculean, burly bod is what you aspire to acquire, P90X is the workout for you, too! You can accomplish that with heavier weights and less reps. Tony will tell you everything you need to know.
You receive a fabulous instruction/work book along with your DVD’s as well as the P90X nutrition plan. Now, to be honest, I don’t follow the nutrition plan. If I did, I am sure my results would be even greater than the results I see eating normally. I follow an extremely healthy diet as it is and working out as frequently as P90X requires me to work out, I see pretty impressive results without the nutrition plan. But, it is a fantastic plan for those who are looking to drop a fair amount of weight. Definitely helpful!
Now, as Tony will tell you, P90X is not for everyone. It is an extreme workout plan. But, coming from someone who put her body through the ringer throughout the late 80′s and all of the 90′s, and suffers from some (way too early!) arthritis and joint issues, as long as you are careful and listen to your body, you will be just fine. It will strengthen you, body, mind and spirit. You won’t believe what you can actually accomplish. You will be shocked when you look in the mirror to see a sculpted, sexy and fit version of yourself. The best version of yourself. You will be OBSESSED with YOU!!!
